Bega Show: This one being our local show is always nice to succeed at Bayview Toyboy (Bertie) worked the house down and came away with Champion Hack, 1st Led and Ridden ANSA in his category, Champion Led all breeds, Reserve Champion Ridden all breeds and Supreme Led.

Bayview Rich List (Archie) 1st Led and Ridden ANSA, in his category, Champion Galloway, Supreme Ridden.

And then it was onto the first big show of the season Canberra Royal.

Canberra Royal: Bayview Toyboy (Bertie) was Best presented ANSA, Won Ridden ANSA, Champion Ridden ANSA and 8th in the novice hack. Bayview Rich List (Archie) was 2nd ridden ANSA, 2nd Ridden Novice Galloway, 3rd Led Galloway and 7th in the Open Galloway.

Needless to say that the boys were supported every week with massage and laser, between each show and if we found any sore spots, they would have an extra massage to deal with that. People often forget how stressful the journey to the show can be, even to a horse that is happy to travel. Their body is put under immense strain just standing and locking out limbs to balance. Then staying in foreign stables with horses you don’t know around you, not to mention the hours spent standing correctly and doing workout, especially at Canberra this year which was in the high 30’s. Massage is a must to these competitive horses, you would not expect an athlete to compete week after week in their given field without, massage, physio, taping and the likes.

Well done team Slater, look out for them at Sydney Royal.
